The Role:
We are seeking a Mechanical Building Services Design Engineer to join our new multi-disciplinary Mechanical and Electrical Engineering design team reporting to the M&E Director, to lead and undertake the engineering designs for a variety of projects across the UK, including Construction, Buildings, Rail, Bridges and Infrastructure projects.
We are looking for a contribution to development of the team, leading and mentoring junior design engineers, presenting an excellent opportunity to develop your own skills and career progression.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Undertaking mechanical design elements for a whole range of projects of various sizes, primarily for Building Services
Production of the Mechanical design element for complete projects
Be an engaged participant with other
design/construction
disciplines and sub-contractors at meetings
Manage the project’s engineering design team to ensure production of deliverables to the programme and budget
Managing the production of drawings. Preparing and co-ordinating mechanical drawings, documents and specifications
Demonstrate an understanding of the complete design process, be familiar with the RIBA work stages and ideally Network Rail’s GRIP process
Approving designs to ensure contractual requirements have been satisfied to a level that complies with British and European Standards
Be capable of checking designs and managing CDM risks
Preparing high level reports, feasibility studies, and undertake site surveys
Undertake design cost estimates and assist with bid preparations.
Skills and Knowledge Requirements:
HND or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or similar engineering discipline. (Ideally for your qualification to satisfy the education criteria for CEng or IEng)
Be a Member of a Professional Institution such as the CIBSE or IMechE., be a Chartered or Incorporated Engineer, or working towards professional registration
Experience in the field of mechanical design and experience on Construction, Buildings, Infrastructure or Rail projects
Able to design and deliver mechanical engineering solutions
Ability to undertake Part L SBEM compliance reviews and produce BRUKL reports
Experience of working in a team on multi-disciplinary projects
Demonstration of a good understanding of engineering software packages used to design and model mechanical systems (i.e. AutoCAD, MicroStation, AECOsim, Hevacomp and other calculation packages)

You’ll be employed on a permanent contract, working 40 hours per week. There is flexibility with start and finish times available however, the core working hours are Monday to Friday 9.30am to 4.30pm.
