Due to the retirement of our current staff member we are looking for a friendly, organised and reliable person to join our reception team. As a first point of contact you will be dealing with patients both in person and over the telephone.
The hours of work are Monday to Friday 8.30 - 1.30 (25 per week) with an option of some overtime to cover leave.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be required to cover all aspects of reception work in a GP practice and involves daily face to face and telephone contact with patients, arranging of appointments and follow up of patient related tasks amongst other administrative responsibilities. Computer literacy is essential and full training will be given as appropriate.
Job responsibilities
- Ensure that all visitors and telephone callers to the practice are greeted professionally.
- Ensure all telephone calls are managed appropriately.
- Manage the patients arriving at the reception desk for appointments, prescriptions and queries.
- To ensure that repeat prescriptions are generated accurately and efficiently within the 48 hours specified by the practice (following prescription training).
- Make appointments for patients over the telephone, give out test results and make the appropriate appointments.
- Complete tasks sent to reception by the doctors via electronic task list.

- Experience of working in a GP practice.
