OFFICER - SAFETY INSPECTIONS - #1674683

The Highways Infrastructure and Operations service provides the management and maintenance of Cardiff’s 1,100km of highway network. An opportunity has arisen in the Asset Management team that forms part of the Assets and Engineering service area.

The successful candidate will have a knowledge of highway maintenance inspection and repair and be able to work on their own initiative. Duties include undertaking highway safety inspections and condition inspections utilising our AMX highway asset management software and Samsung Galaxy mobile devices, representing the Council in court supporting our Section 58 defence against third party insurance claims, customer liaison and site inspection relating to the resolution of incoming highway complaints and requests.

The post holder may be required to work outside normal hours from time to time, including evenings and weekends.

The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently, have a willingness to learn, able to operate a handheld tablet device, enjoy working outdoors as the role involves a considerable amount of outside work throughout the year and hold a full driving licence.
