Head of Department/Family Partner

TSR Legal are currently supporting a national law firm based in Cardiff, who are looking to open a brand new Family department. The firm are seeking an experienced and strategic leader to establish and oversee the new department in Cardiff. This is a unique opportunity to help shape the direction, strategy, and operations of a growing department who have national coverage across the United Kingdom.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the strategic direction and growth of the brand new family department, liaising with multiple offices UK wide


• Develop and implement policies, processes, and best practices to ensure high performance.


• Manage budgets, resources, and staffing to optimise efficiency and impact.


• Foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performing team culture.


• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders


• Monitor performance metrics and provide regular reports to senior leadership.


• Represent the department in meetings, industry events, and networking opportunities.

About You

• Proven experience working with a family team at a Senior Solicitor level


• Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management abilities.


• A track record of successfully building excellent relationships


• Ability to think critically and drive continuous improvement.


• Relevant degree or professional qualification preferred.
