The Recovery Section within Revenue Services is responsible for the recovery of unpaid traffic fines and moving traffic offences Council Tax and Non-Domestic Rates which generates cost income for the Council.
About the job
This is an essential role within Revenue Services as it is necessary to assist with the Council's Budget Strategy primarily generating cost income from the enforcement of Parking Fines and Moving Traffic Offences, also to ensuring there is a contribution to in year targets for Business Rates and Council Tax.
The role involves working with colleagues to ensure performance targets are met you will be responsible for taking prompt and appropriate action to recover debts owed to the Council in accordance with the Courts and Tribunal Act 2007.
The position involves daily contact with members of the public, therefore it is essential that you are a good communicator both orally and in writing and be able to identify vulnerability in accordance with internal guidelines.
What We Are Looking For From You
You must be educated to GCSE standard, and it is essential that you hold a current Enforcement Agent Certificate and a full valid driving licence. You should have a good knowledge of Enforcement Legislation and a working knowledge of Council Tax, Business Rates and Parking Regulations.
You should be assertive and possess good communication skills both written and oral and be in possession of good I.T skills due to number of different systems used.
You must possess a flexible approach to work as you will be required to work within a 37 hour per week framework covering 06.00 - 20.00 each week and one Saturday a month - this is subject to change. You should also be able to demonstrate an ability to deal with high pressure situations as this is a challenging role.
