Main duties of the job
Since 2017, NHS Wales Joint Commissioning Committee has commissioned a service for patients with Neuroendocrine Tumours (NETs) for South Wales, in partnership with Velindre Cancer Centre and Swansea Bay University Health Board. Serving a population of 2.5 million, hosted by Cardiff & Vale University Health Board, it is one of the larger UK centres, accredited as a European Centre of Excellence since 2022, with about 200 new patients annually plus a large follow-up cohort. As a Consultant, you'll join the South Wales NET Service and Multidisciplinary Team, a European Centre of Excellence, renowned for innovation. This role offers the chance to impact a rapidly growing field and meet the increasing demand for neuroendocrine cancer, gastroenterology, and hepatology care, collaborating across South Wales. Suitable applicants should be competent (JAG accredited or equivalent) in diagnostic gastroscopy and colonoscopy and hold a CCT in Gastroenterology (and/or hepatology). While experience in NETs is desirable, candidates with broad luminal gastroenterology or hepatology experience are welcome.
