Interim Head of Finance | Cardiff/hybrid | Charity sector, competitive salary, excellent pension and benefits
Our client is a small to medium sized charity, based in Cardiff. They are currently seeking to appoint an experienced Interim Head of Finance to lead the finance team in providing excellent financial leadership, governance and support to the wider business. The Head of Finance will play a key role in contributing to the development of the Charitys strategic plan and lead on the implementation of Finance activities in line with the purpose, values and vision
Key Responsibilities:
Work with the Executive Team and leadership team to agree and deliver the strategic plan, vision and priorities
Communicate the Charitys vision and ambition with energy and commitment, connecting the ambition to the organisations delivery objectives
Engage with external stakeholders and provide expert and technical advice on opportunities for innovation, efficiency and effectiveness. Sharing learning with the wider Leadership team
Oversee the organisations accounts including final accounts preparation and ensuring timely and accurate submission of accounts
Oversee the financial management systems to ensure in-year spend is monitored and reported on
Actively work with colleagues across the organisation to manage budgets
Provide expert professional advice to Executive and Leadership team and other staff as required
Encourage a culture of continuous improvement, innovation and excellence, learning from others and building networks
Ensure all financial policies and procedures are in line with current legislation and best practice
Ensure that risk is identified and risk management plans are in place where appropriate to the role
Key skills:
Qualified accountant, ACA, ACCA or CIMA
Proven leadership ability, motivating and developing teams
Proven financial reporting skills, presenting results to senior leadership and Board
Up to date knowledge of best practice approaches to financial reporting requirements
Up to date knowledge of legislative frameworks and regulatory requirements
Experience of senior leadership and management
Significant evidence of building strong and effective partnerships both internally and externally
Evidence of developing and delivering business plans, budgets, strategies, complex programmes and policies
Committed to working in line with Public Sector values
