MSS Group, part of the RSK Group have an exciting new opportunity for an ambitious and driven individual to join their team as a Technical Manager based in Cardiff, UK.

General purpose of role:

Overall responsibility for technical compliance of the business, meeting the most current legislation, guidance and HSE licence requirements. Driving continual improvement in all aspects of the operating procedures, striving to be the leading asbestos removal contractor.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and develop standard working procedures to ensure compliance with current legislation and licence requirements
  • Manage compliance aspect of equipment ensuring it fit for use such as D.O.P testing, PAT testing and general working order/condition
  • Management and collating relevant information to meet Operating procedure 5 - RPE. Analysis of data and deployment of any required actions
  • Maintenance and issuing of PPE required for specific tasks in order to meet contract requirements
  • Management of training/competency matrix ensuring the required staff are competent to meet the contract requirements. Provide training in line with training needs analysis.
  • Manage and deploy audit programme in order to assess and support competency assessments
  • Manage personal monitoring and analysis to meet requirements of Personal monitoring policy and drive continuous improvements
  • Manage exposure monitoring ensuring all records are kept updated and accurate
  • Drive cultural change and continuous improvement
  • Provide tool box talks and practical training sessions to accompany competency assessments
  • Review of method statements prior to issue ensuring continuous improvements
  • Provide legislation and guidance updates to all relevant staff including a focus on how that effects us/deployment of changes
  • Provide technical assistance and advice to site staff and contract managers where required
  • Maintenance of all electronic and hard copy technical documentation and management of any updates or amendments
  • Attend industry technical meeting, seminars and forums and deploy any learnings
  • Oversee completion of procedural documentation ensuring adherence to process and implementation of any improvements
  • Attend regular management meetings to provide summary of any technical issues to Compliance Services Director


Skills & Experience Required:

  • Health & Safety management
  • Technical knowledge of legislation and guidance – CAR 2012
  • Extensive asbestos industry experience relevant to the role
  • Industry and regulatory technical competence
  • Control, analysis and management of data/records
  • Driving continuous improvements through wider understanding of the industry
