Cathays High School is seeking a member of staff to join our highly successful Learning Support Team in a multicultural high school, close to Cardiff city centre.
The Learning Support Team works under the direction of the ALNCO and in close liaison with our Head of Year and Safeguarding team to enable all learners to attend school, feel safe and happy and make excellent progress. The key focus of the role is on improving attendance, engagement, behaviour and access to the curriculum for young people with complex and mental health needs. The day-to-day duties include leading a small team of TAs in the planning and delivery of small group and 1:1 interventions, parental liaison and making ongoing referrals to support pupil wellbeing and mental health. It will also include tracking and monitoring pupil progress in targeted interventions and contributing to pupil one-page profiles and person centered reviews. The post comes with line management responsibilities.

Safeguarding is paramount and the Learning Support Team works closely with our Designated Safeguarding Person(DSP) and ALNCO to support our most vulnerable learners. Teaching Assistants contribute to safeguarding our most vulnerable learners in their day-to-day duties but also by attending child protection, person-centered meetings and children who are looked after reviews on behalf of the school.
