Cardiff Council Adult Social Services are looking for 3 full time Higher Clerical Assistant to support a number of social work teams within the Older People and Physical Disability Service. Adult Social Services play a crucial role in society by supporting individuals who need help due to age, disability, or chronic illness.


Here are some key aspects:
• Supporting Independence: Helping individuals live independently by providing assistive devices, home modifications, and personal care services.
• Enhancing Quality of Life: Ensuring that people with age-related health issues, impairments, or chronic diseases have a high quality of life through services like personal care, mobility support, and companion care.
• Reducing Hospital Admissions: Offering preventative care and rehabilitative programs to reduce the strain on hospitals and emergency services
• Supporting Families and Caregivers: Providing expert support, in-home help, and respite care to reduce the stress on families caring for elderly or disabled members.


Adult Social Services play a key role in promoting well-being, independence, and quality of life for vulnerable adults in the community.


ABOUT THE JOB

The successful applicants will work as part of a team providing answering phone calls from citizens, family members, care providers and other agencies. Calls will involve gathering relevant information, signposting and making outgoing calls to follow up with colleagues and/or external organisations.


You will provide administrative support to the team, covering a wide range of duties including minute taking, typing letters, database management, updating and maintain registers and provide general administrative support to social workers and managers.


The roles are full time (37 hours per week) and once training has been completed, will involve hybrid working – both in the office and working from home.


WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR FROM YOU

Previous experience in an administrative role, preferably within social services or a related field is desirable but not essential. The successful candidates will be flexible, able to use their initiative and be computer literate with experience in Microsoft Office applications.


You will be dealing with some of the most vulnerable people in Cardiff on a daily basis and a caring and empathetic nature is vital, as well as being able to manage conversations to support individuals and ensure relevant and appropriate information is gathered in order to follow up and direct their queries appropriately.


Social Services is a constantly changing environment, so the ability to learn and adapt quickly is essential as well as being open to new opportunities and have a positive approach. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable.
