Established in 1981, the organisation has achieved steady growth through a highly skilled and committed team of over 100 professionals.

The Position: Senior Geotechnical Engineer

We are expanding our geotechnical team in Cardiff and are seeking a practical and adaptable Senior or Principal Geotechnical Engineer to play a key role in our continued growth.

This is an opportunity to join a busy and supportive office delivering a broad range of projects across domestic and commercial developments, rail infrastructure, bridges, and temporary works, within both public and private sectors. You will take ownership of selected projects, work closely with engineers and technicians, and receive support from senior leadership, with real opportunities to develop your career while contributing to the organisation's ongoing success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver a range of geotechnical projects, including design for both temporary and permanent works, with a focus on reviewing and checking the work of others.

  • Collaborate with engineers and technicians across the team on a variety of projects.
  • Prepare technical reports, feasibility studies, option assessments, and related documentation.
  • Undertake site inspections and geotechnical investigations where required.
  • Act as a point of contact for clients and support the development of strong working relationships.
  • Work collaboratively with other teams and disciplines, mentor junior staff, and contribute to team and business growth.

Preferred Profile

  • Degree qualified (BSc, BEng or MEng) in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Engineering Geology, or a related discipline.
  • Relevant experience in geotechnical engineering.
  • Experience with UK-based projects and familiarity with UK standards and practices.
  • Strong technical reporting skills with excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Independent right to live and work in the UK.
  • Experience with geotechnical inspections/surveys and familiarity with engineering software (e.g. GEO-5, FEM tools, CAD) is advantageous but not essential.
  • Chartered status (or working towards) with a recognised body (e.g. CEng or CGeol) is desirable but not essential.
  • Full UK driving licence beneficial but not essential.

Why Join Us?

We are committed to investing in our people through tailored training, mentoring, and genuine opportunities for career progression. Whether your goal is achieving Chartership, developing leadership skills, or gaining broader commercial exposure, you will be supported every step of the way.

You will be part of a collaborative and supportive team with an open culture where your ideas are valued. We offer exposure to projects across multiple sectors, with opportunities to broaden your experience between buildings, infrastructure, and heavy industry.
