Our ethos is captured in our motto: “Belong, Inspire, Flourish.”

We are proud of our nurturing culture, strong safeguarding, skilled staff team and close partnerships with families and professionals.

The Role

We are seeking an exceptional, compassionate and values-driven Headteacher to lead Meadowbank in its onward journey.

You will provide both strategic leadership and day-to-day direction, ensuring a safe, inclusive and enabling environment for all learners. Key responsibilities include:

• Ensuring the highest standards of safeguarding, wellbeing and care

• Championing high-quality ALN practice and inclusive pedagogy

• Inspiring, developing and supporting a committed staff team

• Building a collaborative partnership with governors, families, the local authority and stakeholders

• Ensuring compliance with statutory, regulatory and financial responsibilities

• Leading sustainable improvement aligned with Estyn expectations

This is a visible, hands-on leadership role requiring empathy, resilience and compassion.

The Person

We are looking for a leader who:

• Has substantial experience in ALN education, including complex needs

• Demonstrates strong moral purpose, emotional intelligence and inclusivity

• Balances strategic leadership with operational oversight

• Has a proven track record of improving outcomes for vulnerable learners

• Is committed to driving continuous improvement in teaching and learning

• Builds trusted relationships with staff, pupils, families, governors and stakeholders

• Leads with clarity, warmth and resilience

Above all, you will share our belief that every child deserves compassion, understanding and individualised care.

What We Offer

• A caring, professional and supportive school community

• A skilled and dedicated staff team and established senior leadership team

• An engaged, supportive and developing Governing Body

• A rewarding opportunity to lead a school where you can make a lasting difference

If you are a committed and inspiring leader ready to shape the future of a thriving special school, we would love to hear from you.

All shortlisted applicants will be offered the opportunity to visit the school prior to the interview dates. This can be arranged through the Chair of Governors; Mike Borley via the school.
