Create a workplace where people thrive

At Target, we believe that when people feel valued, supported and inspired, great things happen—for our colleagues, our clients and our business. That's why we're looking for an experienced Head of People to help shape our culture, guide our leaders and bring our People Strategy to life.

This is more than a leadership role - it's an opportunity to influence how hundreds of people experience work, every day.

About The Role

As our Head of People, you'll sit on the Senior Leadership Team and play a key role in shaping both our people agenda and wider business strategy. You'll lead the development of a forward-thinking People Strategy, ensuring Target continues to be a place where people can do their best work and feel proud to belong.

You'll lead a talented and passionate People Team - ensuring teams work together to create a joined-up, inspiring colleague experience.

You'll also be a visible, trusted leader across the business - someone who connects people, brings clarity and ensures we stay true to what ‘good' looks like.

What You'll Be Doing

Shaping culture and engagement

  • Champion an inclusive, high-performing culture where people feel valued, heard and empowered
  • Drive colleague engagement and ensure we're creating a consistently great colleague experience

Leading strategy and delivery

  • Develop and deliver our People Strategy, aligned to business goals
  • Use insight, data and best practice to guide decisions and continually evolve our approach

Partnering across the business

  • Work closely with the CEO, ExCo and Board, advising on all people-related matters
  • Support leaders across the organisation to build strong teams and great cultures
  • Strengthen relationships internally and externally - sharing insights and best practice

Leading and growing the People function

  • Inspire, coach and develop a high-performing People Team
  • Set clear goals, encourage innovation and ensure effective delivery across all areas
  • Lead the wider UK teams within our parent company, Tech Mahindra - aligning our culture and values

Driving excellence in people practices

  • Ensure best practice across all aspects of HR, Talent, Learning, Engagement and Communication
  • Lead change and transformation initiatives that positively impact our people
  • Maintain strong governance, compliance and a risk-aware culture

Owning resources and impact

  • Manage the People Team budget and ensure initiatives deliver meaningful value
  • Build business cases and ensure strong return on investment for people programmes

What You'll Bring

You're someone who cares deeply about people and performance - and knows the magic happens when the two come together.

You'll be:

  • A values-led leader who sets the tone and brings others with you
  • A trusted voice at the top table, confident influencing senior leaders and the Board
  • A big-picture thinker who connects strategy to real-world impact
  • A brilliant coach, growing talent and building high-performing teams
  • Commercially sharp, balancing people priorities with business outcomes
  • Calm in the chaos—resilient, adaptable and energised by pace and change

Requirements

You've built your career around creating great workplaces—and you know what good really looks like.

You'll have:

  • A CIPD qualification (or equivalent experience)
  • A proven track record of building and leading high-performing teams
  • Strong commercial awareness, including budget ownership and financial planning

And a broad, hands-on background across:

  • Employee Relations & employment law
  • Talent Acquisition & Recruitment
  • Learning & Development and organisational growth
  • Engagement, culture and internal communications
  • People data, analytics and insight
  • Change and transformation
