Description

This is a newly created role within a global organisation where you will be able to put your own stamp on the role.

As the FP&A Manager you will be responsible for a BAU budget of c£30m annually and lead on Digital Transformation projects totaling over £100m.


The FP&A Manager will act as the lead finance business partner to the Technology & Transformation leadership team, working closely with senior executives to provide strategic financial guidance and oversight. The role will support the planning, forecasting, and performance management of a portfolio of complex, multi-year programmes and business transformation initiatives. Through robust financial analysis, commercial insight, and forward-looking forecasting, the FP&A Manager will help shape investment decisions, optimise resource allocation, and ensure programme delivery achieves its intended business outcomes.


Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the lead finance business partner to a major business transformation function, providing strategic financial insight to support investment decisions, programme prioritisation, and long-term value creation.
  • Lead financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting activities for a portfolio of significant, multi-year strategic initiatives, ensuring resource requirements and funding assumptions are robust, transparent, and aligned with organisational objectives.
  • Maintain financial oversight of complex transformation programmes, monitoring expenditure, risks, and expected benefits to ensure projects remain financially viable and deliver anticipated outcomes.
  • Collaborate with programme and operational leaders to assess the financial implications of project plans, scope adjustments, delivery timelines, and investment decisions, ensuring these are accurately reflected within financial forecasts.
  • Establish and maintain strong financial governance frameworks, ensuring effective cost control, proactive risk identification, and timely intervention where variances arise.
  • Develop financial models, business cases, and scenario analyses to support strategic decision-making, enabling senior stakeholders to evaluate alternative investment and delivery options.
  • Prepare and present financial performance updates, investment appraisals, and forecasting insights to executive leadership, supporting informed decision-making and effective governance.
  • Partner with finance, programme management, and people teams to ensure accurate project accounting, resource tracking, and financial reporting, including the appropriate treatment of capital and operational expenditure.
  • Provide constructive challenge and commercial insight within investment and governance discussions, ensuring financial risks, assumptions, dependencies, and value drivers are clearly understood.
  • Translate complex financial information into clear, actionable recommendations for senior leaders, supporting timely and commercially informed decision-making.
  • Ensure alignment between programme financials and wider corporate planning cycles, including annual budgets, periodic forecasts, and long-range strategic plans.
  • Drive continuous improvement in financial planning and project reporting processes, enhancing forecasting accuracy, cost transparency, and the quality of management information available to stakeholders.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and oversight to FP&A team members supporting strategic programmes, ensuring financial outputs are accurate, insightful, and aligned with business needs.


Profile

Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related discipline.
  • Professionally qualified accountant or finance professional (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA, or equivalent). Additional qualifications in FP&A, corporate finance, or business administration would be advantageous.
  • Extensive experience within Financial Planning & Analysis, commercial finance, strategic finance, or business partnering environments.
  • Demonstrable experience supporting significant capital investments, transformation programmes, change initiatives, or large-scale business projects.
  • Strong track record of influencing and partnering with senior executives and leadership teams.
  • Experience operating within complex, multi-stakeholder, matrix, or international organisations is desirable.
  • Background supporting project-based, technology-enabled, operational improvement, or transformation-focused environments would be advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and performance management processes.
  • Excellent commercial acumen with proven experience evaluating investments, business cases, and strategic opportunities.
  • Knowledge of programme, project, or portfolio financial management principles.
  • Sound understanding of financial governance, controls, risk management, and decision-support frameworks.
  • Ability to interpret financial performance within a broader strategic and operational business context.
  • Familiarity with emerging technologies, automation, analytics, or AI-enabled processes and their impact on business and finance operations.
  • Advanced financial modelling, forecasting, and scenario-planning capabilities.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and quantitative skills with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to synthesise complex financial and operational information into clear, concise insights for senior stakeholders.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience using ERP systems, planning tools, reporting platforms, and financial management systems.
  • Experience working with large, complex datasets and multiple business performance drivers to support strategic decision-making.
