Tax Director - #2120672
Insite Public Practice Recruitment Limited
£100,000-£120,000
There is already a successful tax business here. The opportunity is to help make it considerably bigger.
A highly profitable independent accountancy firm is looking for a Tax Director to join its senior leadership team during a significant period of investment and growth.
The firm has a strong existing client base, excellent retention and an established reputation with privately owned businesses and the people behind them. It now wants another senior tax professional capable of combining technical judgement, client leadership and commercial development.
The position is based in Cardiff and offers considerably more influence than simply taking responsibility for another large portfolio.
- Leading significant relationships with business owners, entrepreneurs and private clients
- Providing senior input across personal and corporate tax matters
- Leading complex advisory and planning assignments
- Developing opportunities across the firm's established client base
- Building referral relationships and generating new fee income
- Working alongside the existing leadership team on growth strategy
- Supporting and developing Managers and Senior Managers
- Improving workflow and creating greater capacity across the tax team
- Remaining personally involved with key clients
- Helping shape the future direction of the tax offering
The Tax Director will need a strong track record within UK accountancy practice and enough breadth to advise across the affairs of owner-managed businesses and their shareholders.
Commercial capability matters at this level.
You don't need to arrive with a suitcase containing £1m of portable fees, assuming such suitcases exist, but you should understand how senior advisers build networks, win work and turn trusted relationships into sustainable revenue.
CTA, ACA or ACCA qualification would be expected in most cases, alongside experience operating at Senior Manager, Associate Director or Director level.
This is not a turnaround.
The firm is already performing strongly and has attracted significant investment to support its next stage of development. Many employees have remained with the business for more than a decade, giving it a stable foundation beneath the growth plans.
The Tax Director will join a leadership group where senior people remain close to clients and decisions can be made without navigating several layers of national bureaucracy.
The face-to-face model is central to the firm's approach in Cardiff. It won't suit everybody, but for someone who enjoys building genuinely close client relationships, it is one of the clearest points of difference.
- £100,000-£120,000 depending on experience and commercial track record
- Significant autonomy
- Established and profitable portfolio
- Direct influence over future growth
- Opportunity to build and develop the tax team
- Strong existing flow of work from the wider accountancy client base
- Investment behind continued expansion
- Long-serving, experienced team
- Visible progression within the wider leadership structure
For an ambitious Tax Director who wants to build something rather than simply inherit a bigger job title, this is a rare opportunity to join one of the strongest-performing independent firms in Cardiff at an important stage of its growth.
