Hays are working with an SME engineering consultancy who are seeking talented Mechanical Design Engineers to join their growing Building Services teams. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of projects across sectors including commercial, healthcare, education, residential, industrial, and public sector developments.
Your New Role:
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering innovative and sustainable mechanical building services designs from concept through to completion. Working alongside multidisciplinary teams, you will contribute to high-quality engineering solutions that meet client expectations and project requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
-Producing mechanical building services designs, calculations, specifications, and reports.
-Designing HVAC systems, heating, cooling, ventilation, and domestic water services.
-Supporting projects through all RIBA stages.
-Liaising with clients, architects, contractors, and internal design teams.
-Undertaking site visits and surveys where required.
-Ensuring designs comply with current regulations, standards, and sustainability targets.
-Using industry-standard software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Hevacomp, IES, or similar design packages.
What You'll Need to Succeed:
-Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent).
-Previous experience within a Building Services consultancy or design environment.
-Knowledge of UK Building Regulations and relevant industry standards.
-Experience designing mechanical systems for buildings.
-Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
-Proficiency in relevant design and modelling software.
-Working towards or already holding Chartered Engineer status would be advantageous.
