An established and growing industrial business is seeking an experienced Head of Purchasing to lead its procurement function during an exciting phase of development and operational growth.

This is a senior leadership opportunity for a commercially minded procurement professional with a proven track record of developing sourcing strategies, managing supplier relationships, and leading high-performing teams within a complex manufacturing, engineering, or industrial environment.

The Role

Reporting into the senior leadership team, you will be responsible for driving purchasing strategy across the organisation, ensuring the effective sourcing of materials, products, and services while supporting wider business objectives.

Key responsibilities include:

• Developing and delivering procurement and sourcing strategies
• Leading supplier negotiations and commercial agreements
• Managing key supplier relationships and performance
• Identifying opportunities for cost reduction and operational efficiencies
• Supporting inventory optimisation and supply continuity initiatives
• Monitoring market trends and mitigating supply chain risks
• Implementing best practice procurement processes and governance
• Leading, coaching and developing the purchasing team
• Collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders across operations, planning, finance and engineering

About You

• Significant purchasing or procurement leadership experience within a manufacturing, engineering, industrial, or related environment
• Strong commercial negotiation and supplier management skills
• Experience developing and executing procurement strategies
• A track record of delivering cost savings and supply chain improvements
• Leadership experience with the ability to build and develop teams
• Strong analytical capability and commercial awareness
• Experience working with ERP/MRP systems
• CIPS qualifications and/or a degree-level education would be advantageous but are not essential.
