Maintenance Electrician

A leading provider of maintenance within the secure environment of HMP Cardiff is seeking an experienced Maintenance Electrician to join its growing team. Working across the establishment, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality electrical repairs, testing, maintenance, and installation services.

Your New Role
As a Maintenance Electrician and part of the Works Department you will be responsible for both reactive repairs and planned and preventative maintenance.

Key duties will include:

Testing and inspecting electrical installations in a commercial building
Carrying out repairs, maintenance, and fault-finding on electrical systems.
Replacing circuits and consumer units.
Undertaking full and partial property rewires.
Delivering electrical repairs and testing within occupied and void housing stock.
Completing work in line with current wiring regulations and company procedures.
Ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation and site-specific requirements.
Participating in an out-of-hours call-out rota when required.
What You'll Need to Succeed

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Essential Qualifications
City & Guilds 2391 Inspection & Testing (or 2394 & 2395 equivalent)
City & Guilds 2382 Electrical Wiring Regulations
City & Guilds 2360/2351 Installation Certificate or equivalent NVQ qualification
Full UK Driving Licence
Asbestos Awareness Training

Desirable Qualifications
City & Guilds 2393 Part P Qualification
City & Guilds 2377 PAT Testing

Experience & Skills
Proven experience working as a Domestic Electrician.
Strong fault-finding and testing abilities.
Experience carrying out domestic installations and rewires.
Good understanding of current industry regulations and best practice.
Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
Basic IT literacy.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
