Accounts Assistant

Up to £30,000 DOE + Excellent Benefits

Cardiff

Môrwell Talent Solutions are delighted to be working with a growing and successful manufacturing business based on the outskirts of Cardiff. This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic and hardworking Accounts Assistant to join a friendly and supportive finance team within an organisation that genuinely invests in and values its people.

The business is continuing to grow, and they are looking for someone who is keen to develop their career within finance and build a long-term future with the organisation. Ideally, you will be AAT qualified or studying towards AAT, or at the early stages of ACCA or CIMA, with some previous experience within an accounts or finance environment. What makes this opportunity particularly appealing is the scope to learn, develop and take on additional responsibility over time. They are looking for someone with the right attitude and willingness to learn, who can grow alongside the business.

The Role

Working as part of the wider finance function, you will provide support across a broad range of accounting activities, including:

Sales Ledger

  • Generating sales invoices.
  • Supporting credit control and liaising with customers regarding outstanding payments.
  • Allocating customer receipts.
  • Assisting with month-end sales ledger routines and ensuring reporting is completed accurately and on time.

Purchase Ledger

  • Matching purchase orders and delivery notes to purchase invoices.
  • Inputting and processing invoices onto the finance system.
  • Allocating supplier payments and completing statement reconciliations.
  • Dealing with supplier queries.
  • Assisting with month-end purchase ledger routines

General Finance

  • Maintaining accurate financial records and filing systems.
  • Assisting with bank and account reconciliations.
  • Supporting month-end processes and financial reporting.
  • Assisting with payroll administration when required.
  • Responding to finance-related queries from internal departments.
  • Supporting audits and ensuring company procedures are followed.
  • Assisting with ad hoc accounting and administrative duties across the finance team.
  • Assisting with quarterly VAT returns.

About You

We’re looking for someone who is enthusiastic about developing their career within finance and who enjoys being part of a team.

Ideally, you will have:

  • Previous experience within an accounts, finance or relevant administrative role.
  • AAT qualified/studying or working towards ACCA/CIMA – ideally at the early stages of your qualification.
  • A good understanding of basic accounting principles.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and finance/accounting systems.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • The ability to manage your workload and meet deadlines.
  • A positive, proactive and hardworking approach.
  • A genuine willingness to learn and develop.
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a wider team.

Most importantly, we’re looking for the right attitude. You don’t need to know everything from day one. This is an organisation that will support and nurture the right person, providing opportunities to develop your skills and take on more responsibility as your experience grows.

What’s on Offer?

  • 37.5 hours per week, with flexibility around start time up to 8.30am.
  • Friday early finish
  • 24 days’ annual leave + 8 Bank Holidays. Additional birthday day off.
  • Company Christmas shutdown, including additional company-funded days off.
  • Workplace pension
  • Life assurance
  • Discretionary annual bonus scheme.
  • Full support and encouragement for professional and continuous development.
  • Regular company team events, including summer and Christmas celebrations.
  • A friendly, supportive working environment where your contribution is valued.
  • This is an office-based role and does not currently offer home working.
