Finance Director - PE Backed SME - #2146520

A genuinely exciting opportunity to join an ambitious, project-led SME at an important stage of its development.

This is not a high-level FD role where the finance function is already built. The successful candidate will be expected to roll their sleeves up and build much of the finance infrastructure from scratch.

Initially, that means personally taking ownership of monthly management accounts, establishing a robust month-end process and improving P&L, balance sheet and cash-flow reporting. You will also introduce better cash and working-capital forecasting, budgeting, project accounting, WIP and margin reporting, alongside appropriate financial controls.

We are looking for someone who is commercial but very hands-on - an experienced FD or Head of Finance, or potentially a strong Financial Controller ready to make their first FD move. The key is having actually built or materially improved a finance function, rather than simply inherited one.

It is a rare chance to come into an entrepreneurial business, create the finance function properly and ultimately become a genuine partner to the MD and Board.

Relevant backgrounds could include: project-led manufacturing, engineering, construction, fit-out, events or production.
