Experienced ALN, Autism & Complex Needs Teaching Assistants Needed in Cardiff | Immediate Start
£16.11+ per hour
Are you passionate about supporting autistic learners and young people with additional learning needs?
Aspire People are currently working with a highly supportive secondary school in Cardiff that is seeking experienced ALN Teaching Assistants to support pupils within a specialist Autism SNRB (Specialist Resource Base).
This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with experience in special schools, autism provisions, SNRBs, residential care, support work, psychology, health and social care, or ALN education who are looking to make a genuine difference in the lives of young people.
The Role
You will work closely with a small group of pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and associated additional learning needs, supporting both their academic progress and personal development.
Responsibilities include:
* Supporting pupils with autism, communication difficulties and sensory needs
* Delivering tailored interventions and structured learning activities
* Using visual supports, routines and communication strategies to promote engagement
* Supporting emotional regulation and social development
* Encouraging independence, confidence and positive relationships
* Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists and wider support staff
* Creating a calm, consistent and nurturing learning environment
We're Looking For
* Experience working with children or young people with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
* Previous experience within an ALN school, special school, SNRB, care setting, support role or similar environment
* A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, Health & Social Care qualification, Psychology degree or other relevant qualification
* Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
* Patience, empathy and resilience
* An understanding of sensory needs and neurodiversity
* A proactive and flexible approach to supporting learners
Desirable Skills
* Team Teach, MAPA, PRICE or other positive behaviour support training
* Experience using PECS, visual timetables, social stories or AAC strategies
* Knowledge of ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs, or complex learning difficulties
* Experience supporting emotional regulation and wellbeing
