Senior AI Engineer

Cardiff - Hybrid - 3 days per week
£70,000 - £80,000 + benefits

We're looking for a hands-on Senior AI Engineer to help build and shape a growing AI engineering capability within a major international organisation.

You'll design and deliver real-world AI solutions while helping define the architecture, engineering standards and governance behind them.

This isn't a traditional management role. We're looking for someone who still wants to build, experiment and stay close to the technology, but is ready for greater technical ownership and influence.

What you'll be doing:

• Design and build AI enabled applications and solutions

• Work with LLMs, RAG, AI agents and orchestration

• Take AI solutions beyond proof-of-concept and into production

• Help establish CI/CD, engineering standards and development practices

• Build guardrails, observability and governance around AI solutions

• Influence architecture and technical direction

• Integrate AI with existing enterprise systems and data

• Work with internal technology teams and external development partners

What we're looking for:

• Strong software engineering background

• Hands-on experience building AI into real applications or products

• AWS experience, ideally including Amazon Bedrock

• Experience with Python and/or JavaScript/TypeScript technologies

• Strong architecture and system design knowledge

• CI/CD and modern software delivery experience

• Ability to explain technical decisions clearly

• Genuine curiosity around emerging AI technologies and tools

You don't need to be an established Engineering Manager or Head of AI.

This could be an excellent next step for a Senior, Lead or Principal Engineer who wants greater technical ownership while remaining genuinely hands-on.
