Are you ready to make a tangible impact on the streets and communities of South Wales? AECOM's Cardiff-based Streets team is looking for a talented and driven Engineer to help design and deliver innovative traffic engineering and urban realm projects. From concept to construction, you'll play a key role in shaping safer, more sustainable, and people-friendly transport networks for local authorities and national clients.

As part of a collaborative and multi-disciplinary team, you'll contribute to high-profile projects for clients such as Transport for Wales, Cardiff Council, Swansea Council, Newport City Council, and key regional frameworks including SWTRA, South West & Mid Wales Regional CES, and SEWTAPS. Here's what you'll do:

As an Engineer in our Cardiff Streets team, you'll be involved in the full project lifecycle—from feasibility through to detailed design and delivery. You'll work on a diverse portfolio of traffic engineering, local transport, and urban realm schemes, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and contributing to projects that make a real difference to communities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop preliminary and detailed designs for traffic engineering, streetscape, and local highway schemes.
  • Prepare high-quality technical outputs including drawings, reports, and specifications.
  • Ensure all designs meet relevant standards, regulations, and client expectations.
  • Collaborate with engineers, planners, and technicians across AECOM's business lines.
  • Support and mentor team members, helping to delegate and coordinate tasks.
  • Deliver work to agreed timescales, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Promote and apply Health & Safety best practices, including CDM responsibilities.
  • Provide regular updates to the Principal Engineer or Project Manager on project progress.
