Data Analytics Coach & Applied AI Specialist - #2189254
Forward Role
Data Analytics Coach & Applied AI Specialist | Hybrid – Swansea or Cardiff | £35,000 – £45,000
This is a split role for a hands-on data analyst who wants to move into coaching without leaving technical work behind. Half your week is spent coaching Level 4 Data Analytics apprentices. The other half is spent as the in-house data and applied AI specialist for a growing digital and tech training provider in Wales. You don’t need any teaching or assessing background, because your assessor qualification is fully funded.
The role – Coaching (around 50%):
- Manage a caseload of 16–24 apprentices on the Agored Cymru Level 4 Data Analytics apprenticeship
- Run online group sessions and one-to-one coaching, with some visits to apprentices’ workplaces across Wales
- Hold regular progress reviews with apprentices and their employers
- Assess learners’ work against awarding body requirements and give clear, timely feedback
- Keep accurate learner records in line with funding, safeguarding and quality requirements
The role – Data & Applied AI (around 50%):
- Clean, prepare and analyse data from internal systems
- Build Power BI dashboards and automated reports on learner progress, achievement and business performance
- Design and build automations across the e-portfolio and CRM systems
- Work with the AI team to design practical AI courses for clients and apprentices, covering tools like Claude and Copilot, simple automations and AI governance
- Help the Managing Director shape the organisation’s data and AI strategy
This is applied AI, not data science. You won’t be building machine learning models.
We’re looking for:
- Strong hands-on data analytics experience, ideally including building internal reporting or data systems
- Confidence with Excel, SQL, Power BI and Power Automate (or similar)
- Practical experience using Claude and Copilot
- Working knowledge of responsible AI, AI governance and data protection, and the confidence to advise others on them
- The ability to explain data and AI clearly to non-technical people
- A full UK driving licence and willingness to complete an enhanced DBS check, which will be arranged for you
Desirable:
- A degree in Data, Maths, Computer Science or a related subject, or equivalent experience
- Experience leading data projects
- Welsh language skills
If you don’t tick every box but have strong data skills and a real interest in coaching, it’s still worth getting in touch.
What’s on offer:
- £36,000 – £40,000 depending on experience
- Hybrid working from the Swansea or Cardiff office, Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm
- 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, and a workplace pension
- A fully funded assessor qualification, coaching development support, and a training budget for professional qualifications
