Salary: £54,000 - £67,285 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

Location: Office Base is Cardiff. This is a hybrid role and the successful candidate will balance office working with home working.

Job Introduction
The Assistant Editor (AI) supports AI-related workstreams at BBC News, leading a team in Cardiff, focusing on operational delivery, supporting editorial teams with AI tools, and ensuring projects align with BBC values.
Main Responsibilities
Support the integration of generative AI into BBC News operations, manage AI pilots, coordinate projects, and ensure effective communication and documentation. Lead meetings, flag risks, and operate confidently in a fast-paced environment.
The role involves managing AI projects, maintaining stakeholder relationships, and representing the team in forums. Reports to the Senior News Editor (AI).
Candidate Requirements
Essential:
- At least five years in a fast-paced news environment with strong editorial judgment.
- Experience leading digital transformation projects.
- Creative use of AI to enhance journalism and audience engagement.
- Openness to new approaches and promoting diversity.
- Strong planning, communication, and resilience skills.
