HCB Widdows Mason is seeking a highly qualified and strategic Head of Employment to lead our Employment Law practice. This newly created role offers a unique opportunity to establish and develop a comprehensive Employment Law team, delivering expert legal support and guidance to clients on a wide range of employment issues.


The key responsibilities include:


  • Creating a dedicated Employment Law team, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.
  • Providing expert advice on employment contracts, workplace policies, employee rights, and compliance with employment legislation.
  • Representing clients in negotiations, mediations, and litigation for employment disputes.
  • Developing and implementing strategies to enhance the visibility and reach of the Employment Law practice.
  • Conducting training for clients on employment law matters and best practices.
  • Staying abreast of changes in employment legislation and ensuring the practice remains compliant.
  • Building strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and potential referral sources.
  • Mentoring and developing junior staff while overseeing departmental performance and financial metrics.

Requirements


  • Qualified solicitor with substantial experience in employment law.
  • Proven track record in leading and growing legal teams.
  • Strong business development and client relationship management skills.
  • Exceptional negotiation and communication abilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of both contentious and non-contentious employment matters.
  • Ability to handle sensitive employment issues with discretion and empathy.
  • Commitment to professional development and mentoring of junior team members.
