AFJ Cardiff is proud to be Wales' first dedicated Afro dance organisation, offering dynamic Afro dance classes and cultural workshops across Cardiff. Our mission is to celebrate and share African culture through inclusive, energetic dance experiences that blend education, fitness, and fun. We represent a wide range of Afro dance styles from across the African continent, and our workshops provide opportunities to dive deeper into these styles and explore creative fusions with other dance forms. Since our founding, AFJ Cardiff has grown significantly and was recently featured on ITV Wales for its impact on arts and culture in Wales.
Marketing and Social Media Intern
Location: Cardiff (Remote/Hybrid Flexibility)
Commitment: 10-15 hours per week
Duration: 6–12 months
Position Overview
We are seeking a passionate and creative Marketing and Social Media Intern to help grow AFJ Cardiff’s digital presence and support our cultural mission. You’ll play a key role in crafting campaigns that highlight our events, classes, and community impact—bringing Afro dance to wider audiences.
This is a part-time internship ideal for individuals looking to gain real-world marketing experience in the arts, culture, and non-profit sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, design, and execute engaging social media campaigns.
- Manage and grow our social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn).
- Create eye-catching graphics, reels, and promotional materials using Canva , or similar tools.
- Monitor audience engagement and suggest ways to improve content performance.
- Write blog posts, newsletters, or captions that showcase Afro dance culture and events.
Qualifications
Required:
- Experience managing social media accounts (personal, academic, or professional).
- Strong design skills using Canva, Adobe Photoshop, or similar platforms.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Passion for storytelling, creativity, and cultural representation.
Preferred:
- Familiarity or interest in Afro dance and African culture.
- Experience creating video content (Reels, TikToks, YouTube Shorts).
- Basic knowledge of analytics tools (Instagram Insights, Google Analytics).
