Salary: £28,000 - £31,000 per annum

Are you an experienced Accounts Payable professional with fluent Mandarin Chinese and English language skills? Do you enjoy working in a fast-paced, international finance environment where no two days are the same?

We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Accounts Payable Assistant to join our finance team in Cardiff. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a growing international business, supporting the Accounts Payable function across multiple entities while building strong relationships with suppliers and colleagues across the UK and China.

Working as part of a collaborative finance team, you will play a key role in ensuring supplier invoices are processed accurately and on time, maintaining excellent supplier relationships, and supporting the smooth running of the purchase ledger.

• Process high volumes of supplier invoices accurately and efficiently across multiple legal entities.
• Match, batch and code invoices in line with company procedures.
• Reconcile supplier statements and investigate any discrepancies.
• Prepare and process weekly and monthly payment runs.
• Maintain accurate supplier records and ensure all accounts are up to date.
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers, resolving invoice and payment queries promptly.
• Liaise daily with Mandarin-speaking suppliers, clients and colleagues based in China, providing clear communication and timely resolutions.
• Work closely with internal departments, including Procurement, Operations and Finance, to resolve invoice and purchase order queries.
• Assist with month-end close activities, including accruals, reconciliations and reporting.
• Ensure all transactions comply with company policies, financial controls and audit requirements.
• Identify opportunities to improve Accounts Payable processes and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Assist with ad hoc finance administration and reporting as required.

You'll have:

• Previous experience in an Accounts Payable, Purchase Ledger or Finance Assistant role.
• Fluent Mandarin Chinese and English (spoken and written) - essential.
• Experience working with multiple entities or international suppliers would be highly advantageous.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong numerical skills.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and finance/accounting systems.
• The ability to prioritise workloads and manage multiple deadlines.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to resolving queries.
• A professional and customer-focused attitude.
