Forward Deployed AI Engineer - Cardiff

Our client is looking to hire a couple of experienced Forward Deployed AI Engineers to join their Growing AI & Software team. In this position, you will lead on the design, development, and deployment of advanced AI solutions that enhance operational efficiency and support business growth. You will work closely with senior stakeholders, guide technical direction, and mentor a growing team of engineers.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead the development and deployment of AI-powered tools to improve efficiency and productivity
* Design advanced solutions including automation, RAG, and LLM-based workflows
* Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and deliver strategic AI initiatives that deliver measurable business value
* Provide guidance on AI architecture, tooling, and technology direction
* Ensure systems are secure, scalable, and compliant with governance standards
* Monitor performance and continuously optimise AI systems
* Mentor and develop a small team of engineers while promoting best practices

Skills & Experience

* Strong experience with AI engineering, or software engineering (e.g. Python, Java, JavaScript / TypeScript etc.) with libraries / frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow etc.)
* Experience with RAG and LLM-based solutions
* Solid understanding of AI architectures and data pipelines
* Knowledge of security, compliance, and governance principles from a development perspective
* Proven mentoring and team development capabilities
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
* Strategic, hands-on approach with a focus on delivery

This is a hybrid role in central Cardiff, with a starting salary of up to £45,000 - £53,000 depending on experience.
