Registered Manager – Children's Residential Home – Cardiff

We're recruiting for a Children's Home Manager to lead a warm and locally led children's residential home in Cardiff. This is a place where relationships come first, where children are truly known, and where staff are supported to build meaningful, long-term change in young people's lives.

On offer is a salary of £53,000 - £55,000, 30 day leave plus bank holidays, pension scheme and the opportunity to be part of a growing organisation that’s truly dedicated to making a difference in the needs of children and young people.

About the organisation

This is a small, independent provider with directors who’ve dedicated their careers to working with young people with disabilities, complex needs as well as adult nursing.

The focus here is simple: create stable, nurturing homes where children see true progression, setting them up with the skills they’ll need for life. They support young people with learning disabilities and healthcare needs and the home is fully adapted for wheelchair users. They have two homes within walking distance, so this is a dual registration though at present only one home is occupied.

The plan to open further homes in the future therefore, progression and development opportunities may arise locally within the organisation.

The Role

As the Registered Children’s Home Manager the key areas of responsibility include:

• Leadership Governance and Compliance
• Safeguarding and Monitoring of the Quality of care provided
• Staffing, Recruitment, HR and workforce Management
• Operational Management of both homes

About You

• Ideally we’re looking for somebody who has experience of managing a Children’s Home before as a Registered Manager or a Deputy Manager with significant experience in children’s Residential Care.
• We’d also be open to applications from people who’ve worked in Children’s Social Care such as a Social Worker.
• Essentially a background in supporting vulnerable children, knowledge and understanding of regulation and compliance, and strong leadership and management skills are essential for this post.
• You’ll also need Level 5 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People), or an equivalent qualification and be registered or eligible to register with Social Care Wales.
• Most importantly, you can demonstrate a genuine passion for supporting young people who have experienced adversity to achieve positive outcomes and reach their full potential.
