Robert Half is delighted to be partnering with a well-established manufacturing business in Cardiff to recruit an Assistant Accountant. Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, this is an excellent opportunity for a part qualified

This role would suit an individual who enjoys a broad finance position, combining financial reporting, cost accounting, transactional finance oversight, and business partnering within a manufacturing environment.

The Role

As Company Accountant, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, producing timely management information, and ensuring compliance across the division's financial operations.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Control & Reporting

• Assisting the month-end close process and prepare accurate monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow reporting.
• Assisting the general ledger, chart of accounts, and month-end journals including accruals, prepayments, and depreciation.
• Support the production of reporting packs and KPI reporting for senior management.

Manufacturing & Cost Accounting

• Analyse cost of sales and overhead variances.

Transactional Finance

• Oversee purchase ledger, sales ledger, and credit control activities.
• Process payroll payments or manage the outsourced payroll provider, including PAYE and pension payments.
• Manage daily banking activities, payment runs, and cash flow monitoring.
• Reconcile bank accounts, balance sheet accounts, and intercompany balances.

About You

Essential

• AAT qualified or part qualified with a strong accounting background.
• High levels of accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail.

Desirable

• Experience within a manufacturing, engineering, or production environment.
• Previous experience using Sage line 50
