Yolk Recruitment is currently supporting an exciting and growing Welsh media business in the search for an ambitious, creative and commercially aware Editor.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced journalist, editor or content professional to take ownership of editorial output across a growing media platform focused on Welsh business, sport, people and communities.

The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the editorial direction of the business, identifying compelling stories, commissioning and editing content, developing contributors and interviewees, and helping to expand its digital, magazine, podcast and social media offering.

This is a hands-on editorial position suited to someone who combines excellent editorial judgement with strong writing, interviewing and storytelling skills. You will be expected to get out into the community, build relationships and uncover the stories that matter to businesses, organisations and audiences across Wales.

The Role

As Editor, your responsibilities will include:

• Researching, identifying and developing newsworthy stories relating to the Welsh business community, while keeping up to date with current affairs, trends and industry developments.
• Conducting interviews, attending events and press conferences, and developing strong relationships with industry contacts and sources.
• Leading editorial planning meetings and working with the wider team to develop story ideas, manage editorial calendars and prioritise content.
• Writing, editing and proofreading high-quality articles, news stories and magazine content, ensuring accuracy, clarity and engaging storytelling.
• Producing approximately 5-7 articles per day and contributing to the daily newsletter, responding quickly and accurately to breaking news.
• Overseeing the planning, commissioning and delivery of quarterly magazine content, working closely with designers and ensuring commercial requirements are met.
• Creating and managing engaging social media content, short-form video and user-generated/influencer-style content.
• Developing, hosting and coordinating podcasts, roundtables and live events, including preparing episode plans and confidently interviewing senior business leaders and decision-makers.
• Working closely with Marketing, Sales, Design and Production teams to maximise content exposure, maintain brand consistency and identify commercial opportunities.
• Creating bespoke advertorial and paid-for content in collaboration with clients, while understanding their objectives and building strong relationships.
• Monitoring audience engagement and using insights to improve content, readership and viewership across multiple platforms.
• Mentoring, supporting and reviewing the work of junior journalists and interns, providing constructive feedback and maintaining high editorial standards.
• Working with the web development team to ensure the website remains engaging, accessible and effective.
• Representing the organisation at networking events and other relevant industry activities.
• Ensuring all published information is accurate, reliable and appropriately verified through fact-checking and cross-referencing.
• Managing multiple priorities and deadlines effectively within a fast-paced and evolving media environment.
• Travelling as required for work.

About You

We are looking for someone with a genuine passion for journalism, storytelling and Welsh business and communities.

You will ideally have:

• Proven experience within journalism, editing, publishing, content creation or a related media environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong interviewing and storytelling abilities.
• Excellent editorial judgement and a meticulous eye for detail.
• The ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• A proven ability to generate original and engaging story ideas.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• A good understanding of digital media and social media platforms.
• Confidence when interviewing senior business leaders, sporting figures and other public personalities.
• A proactive, curious and creative approach to finding stories and developing content.
• The confidence to represent a media brand at events and build relationships with key contacts.
